1yr old banged the back of their head hard on my cheek bone, fell asleep…

For context!! She was well overdue a nap and is poorly with an awful cough… So I’m now in two minds as I was trying to get her to sleep, she was protesting and then flung her head back. She then had an instant cry and just then cuddled up and after a few minutes just drifted (what I would say normally), fell asleep.
I would usually attempt to keep her awake after a head bump but I’d been trying over an hour. Now I’m worrying thinking did she get drowsy?! She’s still coughing away in her sleep.

What’s people thoughts? 😬

You are way, way overthinking this! If she had hit her head hard enough on your face to concuss her, believe me you’d know about it! She fell asleep because she was overdue a nap.

I guess the reason I felt it were pretty hard, is because it bladdy hurt me!! So overthinking not necessarily but attempting to understand the likelyhood, more so.

There is absolutely no way she has concussion from that, your cheek on the other hand will have suffered far more than her head.

Well, am stoked about that.

Yes I agree with PP, she is extremely unlikely to have done herself any harm at all from that. Your cheek however - ouch!

The advice to keep someone awake after a head bump has been discredited, has it not? DH had concussion recently and was told that he was find to sleep, that it's actually important for brain healing.

My DS hit me in the face at the same age and partially detached my retina. We learned fast to hold him at safer angles!

Her skull is more robust than your cheekbone. If anyone was going to get injured in that, it was you; your cheekbone is not going to be strong enough to damage the skull. She fell asleep because she's tired, and is fine.
