Does anyone know what this rash(?) could be?

DD is currently teething and when I took her to nursery this morning had a small redish spot on her lower lip from dribbling/sucking in her lip. When I picked her up I noticed that there are a lot more spread around her chin/mouth now that look quite sore. I have no idea what it is and goggling a photo isn't bringing up much.

Can anyone help? Photos attached (might take a minute to be reviewed)

My best guess is it will blister and be hand foot and mouth.

Oh gosh, is it likely to spread or appear elsewhere then? I've never had to deal with HF&M before. How do you treat it?

Thought the same x

Would any pharmacy be able to help? I don't really want to waste 111 or A&E time if it's nothing they can actually help with or that I can buy OTC x

If it's hand foot and mouth you will know quite quickly as small spots will appear - also on groin/, nappy area, potentially. No treatment, just Calpol or Ibuprofen. If impetigo it will probably stay on the face, pharmacist might be able to help but generally you want the GP on Monday.

I think that looks like impetigo or hfm x

Flupflup · 04/07/2025 23:26

Definitely impetigo. Needs Antibiotics asap!

He needs Antibiotics so 111 to see out of hours GP.Impetigo is very infectious and spreads over skin very quickly.

A pharmacy can prescribe cream for impetigo, if it is impetigo
if its hand foot and mouth then the hands & feet should be breaking out. Y tomorrow

if impetigo don’t share towels and pop a splash of dettol in the bath water

Clockworkchocolateorange · 04/07/2025 23:32

Yeah looks like impetigo- had it myself. Cleared up fairly quickly with treatment.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/07/2025 23:50

Impetigo,a pharmacist can prescribe for it.

InALonelyWorld · 05/07/2025 06:59

It definitely looks like its HF&M. We have woke up this morning and there's a couple similar rash spots on the palms of her hands, bum and feet.

Calpol and more screen time than usual was how I dealt with HFM... Be prepared that YOU might feel ropey in a few days time, depends whether you've had this HFM strain before.
