Daughter has hand foot and mouth disease. Just wondering how many parents have caught it of them. Worried cos she was with my parents all day yesterday (didn't know she had it then). My dad has a slightly weakened immune system so worried about him in particular

I did yes, felt ropey for about 4 days. Drank lots of fluids and took cold and flu tablets (no idea if that is recommended but helped).

Yes. Twice. Different symptoms each times.

2nd times I just felt flu like

I didn't last time but DP had a horrific sore throat.

Yep, felt like death, then got spots on my feet. Was ill a couple of days after the baby.

DD had it twice last winter.
no one else in the house caught it either time

I caught it from my neighbours toddler who she’d bought round for a play date. I felt rough for a couple of days but not so bad I couldn’t function.

Babyboomtastic · 01/07/2025 14:13

Yes.
It was the worst bug I've ever had. Horrific.

Apparently it's 'quite rare' to catch it as an adult but I know at least half a dozen people who did so I think it hugely under recorded.

I didn’t but my dh did and he felt awful. Spots all on hands feet and inside mouth. Was so bad!

ILoveSleeping · 01/07/2025 14:15

Yes, I felt awful for a few days and developed loads of ulcers all over my tongue. Horrible!!

MyHangryDreamer · 01/07/2025 14:15

Yes. Was the most unwell I’ve ever been in my life. But my husband and parents (who spend lots of time with the kids, and mum is immunocompromised) didn’t catch it.
