Ringworm in 1 year old

CTW23 · 29/06/2025 08:13

My 1 year old had 2 round patches on his shoulder (looks very much like ringworm) and we have treated with clotrimazole and another anti fungal for 7 weeks and it’s just getting worse. Now on his back, abdomen, arm and hairline probably 8 circles now.

I will make a gp appointment as nhs says to do that if it’s not clearing but has anyone treated ringworm? How long did it take? Any advice?

thanks

Could be a type of eczema rather than ringworm
Did the GP advise you to use the antifungal? I wouldnt have used it without GP input in the first place

thank You, I spoke to a pharmacist as advised by the nhs health page regarding ringworm. It suggests only seeing gp after treatment from the pharmacist has not been effective.

It should definitely have cleared up by now, it should have improved at the very least rather than spread. Normally ringworm visibly improves within a week.
