Night terrors - 3yo post adenotonsillectomy

My DD who’s 3 had her tonsils out almost two weeks ago. She’s always been a great sleeper but from day 6 post op she’s suffering from horrific night terrors, with occurrences about 4/5 times a night. She has no memory of them thankfully, but we’re all utterly shattered as a result.

A quick nose dive on google and it seems having a general anaesthetic can affect a developing brain and now of course, I’m on a spiral of worry 🤣

has anyone had any experience of this and when did it pass? I feel awful for whatever must be going through her brain, watching her kicking and flailing screaming is horrible

My son had this when he had his adenoids out last year. Although, he was prone to having them now and then before the surgery as he had sleep apnea. There was an uptick after the surgery that lasted a couple of weeks. He also had an increase in them after another period in hospital early this year, so I assumed it was due to the trauma of being ill/in hospital etc. He hasn't had anymore since as far as I can remember.

I hope it stops for you soon!
