Is it normal

DD 11 was in hospital over the weekend they tired many times to get two IVs in after many attempts they got two one in each foot. Her right foot is all black and blue and hurting her when she walks. Is this normal? Her left foot doesn’t hurt as much but does have redness from where the needle went in all the way up her leg. She had an allergic reaction so I’m wondering if she’s also reacted to what ever they did.
should we expect the bruising and pain to last a week or so? And the rash to ease too. Today I’ve kept her socks off and to not have anything on her feet to make it worse

See if you can pop along to the practice nurse - so she/he can check it’s just bruising and not infection

I didn’t even think it could be an infection. I’ve been putting ice on it but with the weather it’s not lasting very long

i Think you will just have to get someone to look at it - very very likely that it’s just bruising. Didn’t mean to add to your worry!

Elevate foot above heart level - should be loads less painful x

She has been laying pretty much all day either in the garden or on the sofa. Not above her heart but it’s been in line with her body

Is the red a line? If it is, or if it feels hot at all, I would nip along to an and e to check it is t infected.
