Anyone with experience of this surgery?

My 12 year old has a problematic canine tooth which requires surgery - I think it’s called “expose and bond”. A chain will be attached to the unerupted tooth under general anaesthetic so that the orthodontist can gradually guide it into the right place.

DS has a tendency to be highly anxious around this kind of thing, so I’d like to approach it armed with as much knowledge as I can, so I can support him.

No experience but my 8 year old needs the same procedure so hoping someone with some experience comes along.

My DD had this done last year. She was 14, she had it done under local. It was very quick and she dealt with it fine. She asked if she could wear her AirPods and listen to some music to distract her.

Its worked really well, the tooth came down really quickly and she now has a bracket on it with her brace.
