Hi I really need some support on this, my little girl suffers with constipation have been back and forth with doctors she is on lactose, however the last couple of days she has been quite constipated so I’ve been giving lactose and her poo is looking rather dark? Is this normal? She is well otherwise well & acting her normal self etc it’s just the colour that seems off from her normal colour unless this is old poo? She will be 3 years old in September ANY help or advice would be much appreciated, the poo is brown inside

Yes it’s normal. poo Can be darker with constipation. The inside is lighter because there’s more water in it. The body absorbs the water from the (outside) of the poo if it passes too slowly through the intestines, which is why they are dry and difficult to pass out.

Does she like kiwi fruit? I know for adults that two kiwi fruit a day have been proven to prevent constipation. Maybe give her one a day and see if that works. DS used to like one with the top cut off. He’d eat it with a teaspoon like you’d eat a boiled egg. I think golden ones tend to be sweeter.
