My son swallowed a coin yesterday and spoke to hospital and they said keep a close eye on him for certain symptoms and check when he goes to the toilet.
Should i send him to school or keep him home?

I'd tell school so they can call you if concerned and send him in.

How old is he? If he’s able to check himself if he goes to the loo at school, you could send him in. My DD was about 5 when she swallowed a coin and stayed home for two days until it passed.

My cousin swallowed a pound coin years ago.

He shat out two 50ps 🤣

All seriousness, I think you can only keep an eye on them until they pass the stool.

id keep him home. Keep checking thoroughly, so you know for sure when he has passed it.

I couldn't relax until he had!

In which case, I’d keep him at home until the coin is safely out!

Is is definitely moving, and not stuck? Are the hospital following him up. I’ve looked after a lot of children who’ve swallowed coins. It’s remarkably common. Once had a girl who’d swallowed a fairy pendant. That looked pretty on the x ray. Best one was a child, who’d been told never to put money in his mouth because it is dirty. But he decided that, as this pound had come from the tooth fairy, it was clean. He was utterly adorable!

My daughter swallowed a coin when she was 2, luckily she pooped it out in her nappy a day or two later. I would keep him home and catch the poops to inspect, gross I know, but at least you will know once its out.
