Developed cradle cap after first hair cut?

Hi!
I took my son for his first hair cut at 2.5yrs old and all of a sudden he developed cradle cap. Is that something others have noticed? Could it be a coincidence that he just so happened developed cradle cap a little after the hair cut? He's a nightmare about having his hair washed. I've read in similar post about baby oil so I'll give that a go too but I'm just concerned about the timing.

Cradle cap is a type of eczema (seborrhoeic).. it’s thought to be an overreaction by the immune system to Malassazia Yeasts that grow on everyone’s skin. You can’t catch it. The timing is likely coincidental.

Regarding oil to use. Melassazia feeds on fats and oils (including scalp “grease”) so be careful what oil you use. I use MCT oil which is 100% Caprylic acid which will not feed Malassiza and has anti-fungal properties.

Good luck. It can be a pain to manage in some people.

I was going to ask if they shampooed his hair, or used any product on it, as a different shampoo/ product could kick it off with sensitive scalp like certain soaps etc with eczema. My son had it v badly as a baby (he developed eczema too). I used a specific product for cradle cap in the baby aisle and it worked but it took quite a while to clear completely. First I tried olive oil and it made it so much worse, it was in huge, yellow, scabby clumps 🤮 so don't try that.

Ps. It was Johnsons shampoo which started it.

I might switch up his shampoo, and someone advised baby oil on a different thread
