DS5 fell over at School last week and cut his knee and hand. School cleaned him up but said they couldn’t do a good enough job on his hand as he was so upset and asked us to clean it too.

We cleaned it as best we could and it started to scab over - then 2 days ago he fell over at the park and the scab came off and the cut bled again. Cleaned it again and he’s forgotten about it.

We've been painting today and I went to clean his hand and noticed that the cut is very red still and I’m worried it’s infected or something is in there still. Pic attached (ignore the paint!)

Should I take him to the doctors / pharmacy to check? Or clean again and use salon?

(Just to say….I had really bad PNA when he was born as he was so poorly and nearly died and generally I find it so difficult to cope when he is ill / has something wrong with him because my immediate reaction is to get medical intervention when often this isn’t needed - I overreact hugely because it brings back those PNA feelings around his health - so I’m asking here because I don’t trust my own judgment)

I think that looks ok personally. I would try and put some sudocrem or savlon on it regularly but it does look like it’s healing.

I'd say that probably is mildly infected. I'd go to one of the Sunday pharmacies (our Tesco has one) to see what they can offer but I wouldn't be rushing off to A and E or anything like that.
