CMPA - 7 week old

7 week old has been on omeprazole for 9 days now. No improvement which I know it can take a while. Also suspected CMPA, her stomach is the main problem she is uncomfortable the whole time she is awake and when she is asleep it is only in my arms or she is crying out and thrashing around. Getting an hour a night if that. She hasn’t been feeding well the past week, keep coming off the breast and cries through the whole feed. Her skin is very dry and has a rash/spots that I think could be linked rather than just baby acne. She is also having very foamy stools, mucus present a couple of times. I have attached photos of her skin, any advice or anyone who has experienced the same and it has been CMPA. I would hate to stop breastfeeding if this is something she will ‘grow out of’ as the GP first said. But A&E doctors think reflux and CMPA. Starting hypoallergenic milk today.

My DC who had CMPA had exactly the same rashes and also had mucus in their stool. Hopefully the formula will help clear it up, I understand you might be disappointed not to BF but sometimes things just work out different to how you want them to. Best of luck x

Don’t stop bf if you suspect an allergy! So much easier to bf an allergy baby than ff.

If you think CMPA just stop consuming dairy. Don’t replace it with soya and I would consider stopping that too.

Make sure you get enough calcium, vitamin D and iodine (many oat milks will be fortified with this).
