Could anyone recommend a private Paedriatric neurologist in London for a child with seizures please. We are struggling to find anyone.

Dr Maria Kinali is excellent- very thorough.

EleanorSidgwick · 15/05/2025 10:41

I was about to recommend her too!

Grapesandtea · 15/05/2025 10:44

Thank you, I’ve tried her already but availability only for mid/end of June :(

That’s a shame - if it’s something that needs checking out urgently eg infantile spasms, then I would hope she would squeeze you in earlier but obviously no idea if this is possible.

Have you tried looking at the neurologist teams of the major London hospitals and seeing which doctors have private practices?

eg Great Ormond St list here

I’m also trying dr Clarke and dr Ishmailova, anyone had any experience with them?

Dr Kinali at the Portland is the best! I extremely easy to discuss things and look for options, she has a lovely manner and lots of expertise x

BrentfordForever · 15/05/2025 12:22

Oh sorry OP just realised you tried her alrrady

letting you know we had the same but they called us for last minute due to cancellation so worth putting your name down and say it’s urgent x

Grapesandtea · 15/05/2025 15:09

@BrentfordForever thank you, we have done that, we have been discharged from hospital with no answers or support and drugs are awful.

Dr Antonia Clarke is excellent in my experience

Grapesandtea · 16/05/2025 11:01

Thank you all for the recommendations, I’m very grateful. We managed to see someone last night who was helpful and changed his medication. We will also wait for appointment with dr Clarke/dr Kinali whatever comes first. This is a very scary time for us.

Glad you got seen. I wish you the very best.

Try Dr Adelaida Martinez - Consultant Paediatric Neurologist (, we used her yrs ago and she is excellent! not sure whether she is still based at the Portland and also works from the Royal London Hospital. She very kindly suggested we ask the GP to refer DS directly to her as an NHS patient after the first 2 private appointments to cut our costs, since she was going to be seeing him regularly to monitor him.

BrentfordForever · 16/05/2025 11:26

Sending hugs @Grapesandtea hope it all works out ok!!
