Headache and weeing loads

TrailerRoller · 13/05/2025 21:34

My DD 10 is weeing loads today, but we also have her drinking loads to get rid of her headache. She woke up this morning with a headache, which Calpol is not helping with. She is like a yoyo to and fro to the loo with some small wetting accidents not making it in time. She also has increase pain in her head when she was trying to poo earlier (she is constipated normally) and no change there.

Wondering for advice on the urine, I think maybe infection, but also maybe not? She does have a fever, but her urine is pretty clear, almost white. Hubby is going to bring some migrarine relife stickers for her head home to see if that helps at all.

Any other suggestions at all x

Please go to a doctor. Weeing lots can be an indicator of Diabetes.

Dreichweather · 13/05/2025 21:37

She needs to see GP to rule out UTI and to see some movicol and advice for the constipation. Wetting could be caused by UTI or constipation.

TrailerRoller · 13/05/2025 21:38

She is already on movicol started it last week. I was thinking of making a GP appointment tomorrow x

I didn’t notice you said fever. Highly likely a UTI. But she still needs to treat the constipation so it doesn’t cause long term damage.

Dreichweather · 13/05/2025 21:39

Cross posts. I’m glad she has movicol. Have a look at the ERIC website.

It may well be a UTI but if her urine is clear, please raise the possibility of vasopressin deficiency when you see the GP (previously known as diabetes insipidus). Is she really thirsty? I was diagnosed with this last year and was getting through 7 litres of fluid per day (which were passing straight through me). Mine came on very suddenly and was due to a growth on my pituitary gland (which sounds alarming but generally benign and mine is just being monitored). Worth raising it even if just to rule it out as HCPs generally don’t know about it (took me ages to get a referral to an endocrinologist as GP just didn’t know where to refer me to). All good once referred though and symptoms all controlled through meds.

YetAnotherNewUserMoniker · 13/05/2025 21:45

Might also explain the headache, especially
if similar to sinus headache (at the front, especially around eyes).

TrailerRoller · 13/05/2025 21:48

@YetAnotherNewUserMoniker thank you, yes, she is drinking a lot today! But it has only been sudden today. I guessed it was a mix of her headache and fever. She has been having a wee every 15-30 mins or so over the last few hours it has gotten a lot more often. Her temp is back up at 38.9 now too x

She says the pain is both at the front and around the back of her head when she is trying to poo x

Poor thing, hope she is feeling better. Mine came on almost overnight but without any illness or fever (took me a while to realise quite how much I was on the loo as I was so obsessed with the thirst, was waking 3-4 times a night and downing at least 500 mls. Another marker is a huge craving for ice cold drinks). Hopefully
she’ll be ok the mend soon, must be even worse with the heat. Hope the GP can help if you need to go tomorrow.

YetAnotherNewUserMoniker · 13/05/2025 21:52

Maybe worth a call to 111 this evening?

TrailerRoller · 13/05/2025 21:55

Thank you! I will give our out-of-hours provider a call, I think, then. We don't have a 111 service in Ireland, sadly. She is also starting to get sore down below so maybe its more than I had thought!

Sorry didn’t realise you weren’t in UK (very presumptuous of me!). With all of the suggestions above, I think the main thing is to keep her drinking, as you are doing. Hope OOO can help. Soreness might indicate more a UTI, so hope they can help her quite quickly.

TrailerRoller · 13/05/2025 22:17

No thats okay. OOHs have said theyll call us back in the next 4 hours. I dont see either of us having much sleep tonight as it stands

OP posts:
YetAnotherNewUserMoniker · 13/05/2025 22:20

Fingers crossed you don’t have to wait too long. And that you both get some sleep, you must both be exhausted.

TrailerRoller · 13/05/2025 22:26

DD is pretty wiped out on the sofa just about to fall asleep before needing to wee again. I hope not but the ooh service is being used as a attached service for normal hours GPs x

Pop some towels under her and hopefully she’ll be ok. Wishing you (and the OOH provider!) a quiet night and an early appointment.

TrailerRoller · 13/05/2025 22:42

Thank you we have moved her into our room with me and hubby will take her bed so she can be near the ensuite for the night x
