Reoccurring rash on 1 year old

Hi,

I came on here (literally just signed up for this) to relieve some of my stress on you guys - sorry! And find out if anybody else has experience this.

My 1yo has now had two episodes of full on rash all over face and entire body. The first time was with ear and tonsillitis infection. It was diagnosed as a penicilin allergy that came 8 days into the antibiotics.

Yesterday she woke up again with it, its itchy and spreaded slowly. Its the worst on her face. Both times she had fever so that seems to be the link. Took her to see the nurse and she thought it might a late reaction to her 1yo jabs which was 10 days ago but to monitor her.

Im just frustrated because
a) it looks awful and uncomfortable
b) why does it keep happening and will it keep happening with every fever
c) could it be something more serious that we are missing out on.

Rashes with viruses are very common in young children, some more than others.

It appears your child is more likely to have a rash than some others.

If it's itchy there are children's antihistamines.

If you're worried you can always go to a pharmacist who will be able to assess it or call 111.

Could it be slapped cheek (parvovirus)?
