Lump/bruise on shoulder blade?

Hi. My little one has had a bruise looking lump on his shoulder blade for over a month now. I am taking him to the GP but wondered if anyone had seen similar before so I know what to expect?

That is strange - if it were an adult I'd think it was a cyst. Hope the GP is reassuring.

I don’t usually ever say this but I would be taking my child to A&E with that. It could be many things but that’s a huge lump and needs investigating.

That was my initial reaction when I realised it was still there but was talked down. I think I’ll take him - thank you!

I would say a cyst or a ganglion but I would want it checked out Monday at the GP.

Its not an accident or an emergency to have had it for a month. This is a trip to the GP when they open Monday. I would say to the GP that it's urgent but it's not an A&E situation at all.

For anyone who wants to know, after 2 months of being backwards and forwards to the GP he’s finally had an ultrasound and it’s a lipoma.

Thanks for letting us know @ele505, glad it was something harmless 🙂

It's a shame you had to wait so long for a diagnosis, you must have been very worried.

It was a rough few months but I’m so glad I persisted and got the ultrasound. I knew I wouldn’t settle until I had a definite answer instead of a guess from the GP.
