ds hit head whilst running on the edge of a concrete step, he bashed off it so was quite bad, he cried immediately and was alert but upset. No blood it was more of a dry bashing. Marked all his cheekbone and above the eyebrow , but also did hit his head we think all front related. Rang ambulance as he went quite sleepy In the car and was sheet white. No vomiting then. Got taken to a & e and was there 2.5 hours was seen straight away. Once when eh was asleep doing checks and once when he woke up and was playing and eating and laughing. He has genuinely been 100% himself since coming home yesterday at 4pm , eating, laughing , running talking playing been loud. But one hour ago, randomly came into to me pointing to his trouser with sick on…. He is very speech delayed so hard to know exactly. I wasn’t in the living room when he vomited. It was on the sofa, he had just finished a packet of crisps, and he communicated that he put the crisp packet into his mouth which of course would have made him gag. My son is a gagger and has thrown up many times in his life due to gagging alone as he has large tonsils etc. gagging isn’t uncommon for him and to be sick. I felt the crips packet and it was a bit wet which would indicate he shoved it in his mouth and it may of touched back of throat. This vomit was literally exactly 24 full hours after the head hit. And the first one, after the vomit happily playing again and been loud etc, running around. Now asleep on sofa but he has been awake since 6am and didn’t get to sleep to late last night… my point is, can this be something horrendous and he be bleeding on his brain? Have a big brain injury? He was taken by ambulance and checked by numerous people including drs that arrived with crew, paramedics and then the A and E too. Does it sound like it’s related to the fall or the fact he may of put the packet in mouth and gagged and threw up? What would you do? Please note he was taken straight to a and e by ambulance after the fall. Thanks x

It sounds like it is most probably unrelated to the head bump. However if it was me I would probably get some advice, maybe ring GP and explain or 111? Can never be too careful. At least your mind will be put at rest.

Dd2 once had a massive bump to the head (decided to climb through the buggy and see if she could balance on the top 🙄) and then vomited about an hour later. We were outside the GP at the time, so he saw her straight away, and said he wouldn't be at all worried unless she vomited again - in which case go straight to A&E.

Now I'd think from your description I don't think it's worrying; it sounds just like you say - vomiting was unrelated. However I would phone 111 for advice on the very small chance that there is concussion.

My ds was similar and I took him back to A&E where they confirmed concussion. No screens allowed, a step by step return to school. It was a big thing for a bump to the head on the playground that barely left a mark, He then developed post concussion syndrome and it’s taken 6 weeks for him to get back to almost normal. He’s still struggling with sleep at night and is emotionally volatile at times. A&E were very much of the opinion that any concerns bring him back hence the two visits. Then we went to the GP two weeks after the injury where the GP diagnosed post concussion syndrome. I think because you have a young child that isn’t able to communicate his symptoms effectively then I would take him back to A&E to be on the safe side and hopefully put your mind at rest. Ds was seen quite quickly both times. I hope he’s ok Flowers

Thank you everyone. A small update that he wasn’t sick again yesterday and slept all night again. Been hyper again this morning… today it will be 2 full days since the fall. And when it happened I called ambulance and actually 4 doctors turned up and 2 paramedics so he was actually seen by all those too, then taken to a and e and then seen by nurse and advanced practitioner there too. X
