Children's uti

Hi everyone

I took my 8 year old son to the doctor today as he's saying his tummy hurts when he urinates and feels like he can't completely empty his bladder

The doctor took a urine sample and did a dip stick test which showed protein and a blood spot, the doctor said its perfectly normal with an infection but she's sent it to be tested and I should hear back after bank holiday.

She says if anything else comes back then he will need a tummy scan but I'm hoping all is OK, she's given him antibiotics for a week just in case.

My question is, is has anyone else had a blood spot on the dip stick test and all been OK? It just slightly panicked me, I have anxiety anyway and obviously we all worry when it comes to our children.

Hoping it is just a uti and nothing to do with his kidneys.

He's perfectly fine in himself, no temperature and eating, drinking and playing as normal.

Many thanks for any replies they are very appreciated 😊

My DD had blood in her urine around a year ago. It was a one off and subsequent tests were fine. It sounds like it's all in hand with the GP. Bank holidays are a pain when you're waiting for test results as it's more waiting (I'm waiting for blood test results myself) but try to just have a lovely weekend and only worry if your DS starts showing signs of being unwell.
