Tonsillitis - little improvement

DD 6yrs old has had tonsillitis since Friday. We initially thought it was an ear infection so GP prescribed amoxicillin over the phone. They were taken on day 1 of her symptoms and it's day 4 now and little sign of improvement. By end of day 1 we realised it was tonsillitis but decided to see if it'll clear with the antibiotics. However it's now 4 days in and she's still very tired and complaining of sore tonsils and a headache. Tonsils look a little better (reduced white spots) but the pain, tiredness and low fever are still there. Wondering if this is normal for tonsillitis? Will call GP tomorrow but just wanted to know if others had similar experiences.

I could have written this myself a few days ago. Both my DDs came down with symptoms on Easter Monday and went to walk in centre where I was told it was ear infections and they were given drops. No improvement in fever/symptoms by Wednesday so went to GP and both had tonsillitis with white spots and given oral antibiotics. They have only just started to improve (I had hoped antibiotics would have kicked in after 48 hours) no fevers now and now starting to eat more etc but both are still so tired with it and sleeping loads.

I would get her checked tomorrow if there is still a fever after 4/5 days of antibiotics.

Don't know if you have been told this but change the toothbrush.

Thanks very much. Your experience sounds very similar to what I'm seeing too. I think the tiredness surprised me most as didn't think tonsillitis did that. Hopefully your DDs continue to improve.
