If it isn’t chicken pox, what is it?

DD was sent home from preschool with ‘chicken pox’ yesterday. She had about 25 spots in random places all over her body. Not itchy and they haven’t blistered. She hasn’t got any more since then, they seem to be starting to fade, and she isn’t remotely unwell. There is chicken pox going around but she had it (albeit fairly mildly) when she was about 18 months old so I’m not entirely convinced it is!

However, I can’t really think of an alternative diagnosis! Surely mite or mosquito bites would be itchy? And I don’t think it looks like molluscum contagiosum.

Any suggestions as to why she has randomly come up in 20-30 spots spread all over her body? I’ve attached a couple of photos taken tonight and tbh they have definitely got smaller!

It looks more like a heat rash? I would have thought spots from yesterday would have blistered by now, although you definitely can have chickenpox more than once.

Yeah that doesn't look like chicken pox spots to me either. If she's not unwell I'd say it could be a heat rash or allergic reaction to something she was wearing or using on her skin.

It does look more like an allergic reaction or bites. If she’s not unwell or itchy and they’re getting better I wouldn’t worry too much, and send her back to nursery next week
