Does this sound like appendicitis in 3 year old?

Around 5 days ago the whole family suffered a mild stomach bug, didn’t last longer than 12 hours.

Now 3 days later my daughter has started complaining of constant stomach pain below her belly button to the point she’s crying about it, constant fever, doesn’t want to move, asking me to carry her everywhere. Vomiting. She’s so out of she’s got literally no energy and has slept the most of 48 hours.
does this sound like her appendix?

Go to the GP ring now.

It might well be, for god’s sake take her to A&E to get checked. Appendicitis symptoms are treated as a medical emergency. We got checked recently for my 5 yr old (turned out to be a UTI in our case) but we were treated very seriously throughout. Don’t waste time on the internet, just go. It is life threatening if appendicitis.

Intussusception is another possibility. Medical energency. Definitely needs A and E.

Starlight7080 · 22/04/2025 10:47

You should definitely have got her checked out by now . Better to know what's going in then to guess and hope sorts itself

ClarasSisters · 22/04/2025 18:57

Mesenteric adenitis also a possibility, especially given recent gastro bug. She needs checking out by medical professionals, not being diagnosed over social media. Hope you've at least called 111 by now.

Hope it you all feel good about yourselves after making this poor mother probably feel rubbish after you all never make mistakes people. So easy to hide behind your screens giving out your think you know it all comments.

Poster hope you have managed to get some answers for your little one. In these situations always a good idea to call 111 where they can advise you. On here you will just get the crap replies that will make you feel like a rubbish parent.

Good luck and hope you get it sorted.

It sounds like mesenteric adenitis but could be appendicitis. She definitely needs checking out. I think Aand E would be the best option as she needs assessing this morning .
Give her regular Calpol and try and encourage frequent sips of fluid .

You left it too long to seek advice OP. I hope she’s better soon

justasking111 · 23/04/2025 08:34

I'm glad you have a diagnosis. Hopefully she bounces back quickly.
