Hello everyone I will try and make this brief..

my 2 and half year old unfortunately had a bead up her nose (cousin had one of those bracelets and broke it 🤦🏻‍♀️) I frantically picked up all the beads and hoovered pulled everything apart but obviously missed one hiding as it ended up my daughters nose. she has a thing about smelling things lately like flowers etc.

took her straight to A&E after the mothers kiss failed to get it out and my daughter was really distressed. 3 doctors pinned her down and failed to get it out made her bleed and now she is completely traumatised 😭 she had a bed booked for it to be removed under GA unfortunately the ENT decided he wanted to try one more time I was very clear I didn’t want him to do it as she was so distressed but as he checked he could see it and got it out.

since this happened she has not been her usual self she is extremely irritated, she is constantly sniffing, she is constantly sneezing, when she has her night time milk I am noticing a whistling sound coming from it. I have noticed some fluid but as soon as I go to check she wipes it or sniffs it back up. My first thought was just irritation from the bead being up there but the hospital said this would only last a few days but it’s been almost 2 weeks now.

I took her back to a&e my daughter had a meltdown she was screaming obviously still affected by this ordeal they told me to just keep an eye on it and that there is likely nothing else up there but for some reason I have a gut feeling there could be. I spoke to my GP they have referred her to ENT however it could be a wait due to it going to a community ENT first.

I am now debating whether to do another trip back to a&e and see the ENT again as they did say if things haven’t improved we will get booked in for the camera up the nose this will avoid the wait for the community ENT first.

would it be best to go back to a&e or wait until the community ENT comes through.

I feel like such an awful mummy honestly it happened so fast those things are banned from my home. I remove all the small parts that come with dolls and toys for this exact reason.

thanks for reading.

I would honestly suspect that she had put more than one bead up there.

Been there! I’m sorry you have to wait so long to get her checked out, but you’re a good mum for looking out for her 🧡

Yep, I would be wanting to check for that at this point.

@nocoolnamesleft my thoughts exactly I personally believe it’s so far up that it cannot be seen. Hospital just dismissed me as being paranoid and if an infection comes then to go back.

@MossLoverhonestly i feel like rubbish I have been up the hospital 3 times now called my gp who is amazing but couldn’t help as they don’t have the equipment to check I am worried for my girl she is so traumatised she wouldn’t let them do her obs she just screamed I don’t blame her she bled over her blanket and 2 sets of clothing. I shall be back up there.

@BunfightBettyi am definitely going back up there I did call them yesterday and they dismissed me saying wait until you see foul smelling mucus I was like so you basically want to see an infection before hand even though you got one out she is 2 and half with speech delay so cannot tell us how many she put up there I feel awful
