Ongoing tummy pain 5 yo

My 5 yo has had intermittent tummy pain for over 10 days now. No fever, sickness or diarrhoea. She’s off her food and lower energy than usual, although seems to temporarily bounce back but then complains of pain again.

urine tests have show a low level of infection so she’s on day 2 of antibiotics for a UTI but I’m not convinced that’s what it is. Appendicitis has been ruled out due to the location of the pain and not being sore to touch.

anyone had any experience of something similar? I just want my happy, energetic little girl back!

Hi OP, my DN had this a few years ago - it was an enlarged lymph node in her tummy following a bug and it took a while to go down. There is a proper medical term for it, although my sleep deprived brain cant think of the word for it! My DN had an ultrasound and they spotted the enlarged node - it can be quite common in children.

IMOE, my DS had a month long tummy ache (no other symptoms) and turns out he was coeliac

Thank you for sharing your experience. We had another bad night so went back to the doctor this morning and he mentioned the lymph node condition. Miraculously though, after the pain she was in last night, she’s been eating, running around the park and hasn’t mentioned her tummy today so I’m crossing everything!
