8 month old hernia advise

My poor DC has a hernia photo included which has popped out of no where, he’s been seen by local urgent care centre last night and then GP this morning has referred to paediatric surgeons, this could take months?? No one seems overly concerned I was beside myself last night thinking the worst, but feelings slightly reassured today and my baby is fine in himself really no changes apart from the noticeable lump in his abdomen when moving. Anyone experienced this with their DC? Was surgery necessary? Was wait long to see paediatric team? How are Littles ones now? TIA x

My dd had a hernia in a similar place from being newborn to about one year old, it just went away as her muscles got stronger. I hope the same will be true for your son.

My 16 month old still has an umbilical hernia, about 2cm. GP said they wait until around 5 to see if it resolves itself
