As per title. Been going on now about a year. Multiple trips to the doctor. Testing for urine infections each time - none.
she sits and sits after a wee to make sure nothing left and trying to prevent “a leak”. Gets up and leaks.

was referred for an ultrasound and today got a text saying the hospital rejected the request made by the GP as it “wasn’t justified”.

she is 8. She’s embarrassed. The leak isn’t like wetting pants. It’s like there’s a kink in her anatomy and when she stands up it runs out.

dont know what to do now the ultrasound has been rejected. Is there another diagnostic treatment we could pay for?

Have you been in touch with ERIC?

LadyGAgain · 01/04/2025 23:44

Sorry who is ERIC?

www.eric.org.uk are a charity who provide info on toileting issues in children. Is she constipated? Because that can cause this.

LadyGAgain · 01/04/2025 23:59

Thank you! She was complaining of that tonight but has not for a long time and the leaking has happened today but also when not so. Are they linked? Thank you for the link too. I shall read up. Much appreciated!

Stupid question but is it instant that it happens? As in could she stand up over the toilet then the leak happens there?

MalleusMaleficarumm · 02/04/2025 11:46

Agree re. the constipation advice. It can cause urine leaking and retention in children

Not a stupid question. It does sometimes happen when she stands after a wee but also can happen if she gets up without having a wee. To me it’s like there’s a kick where wee collects when she’s sitting and when she stands it leaks out. Unsure how to get that checked though or what could be done!

she’s on the lactose for constipation this morning so will monitor and have made another dr appt for the end of the month.

Is she over weight as this can cause issues. Get her to try rocking to empty her bladder bit like when you are heavily pregnant. Might help. Does she drink much? I find it happens to me when I've put off emptying my bladder for ages. Sorry she is experiencing this.

It may be an old joke about prunes, but they do contain something that's a laxative.

If you call them dried plums they don't sound as bad. I love them.

LadyGAgain · 04/04/2025 14:33

I’m partial to a prune!!

so she’s not constipated any more and she’s slim and at the right weight. The hospital has rejected GP’s request for a scan saying it’s not warranted so back to the GP we shall go!
