Ulcer or Abscess?

Can anyone here help identify this please (photo added)? We’re not sure if it is an abscess or ulcer (my daughter is 4.5 years old). She’s had ulcers in the past on the inside of her lips but this is in the upper gum and seems to be quite red/inflamed.

Struggling to get a dental appointment today (Saturday) and we’re not sure what to do. Symptom-wise it doesn’t seem to be bothering her too much other than a bit of pain in the area and she doesn’t have a temperature.

Grateful for any insights!

Need to see a photo of the biting surface of the teeth. However swelling looks very much like an abcess, ulcers don’t tend to swell as much .

when did she last have a dental check up ? Make an appointment on Monday .

I will take one and post it. Last check up was in Jan and we were told no issues all was looking healthy.

Thanks for your reply!
