Chicken pox play date

I have an almost 6 month old. We are due to have a play date next week with some friends at a play centre. One of their little boys has had chicken pox this week. He has all scabbed over so now not contagious but his younger brother hasn’t come out in it yet. I’m worried that we will go on the play date and he will come out in spots the next day! Would you go to the play date?

No, your child is under 1 so won't have stable immunity for life if caught now. Get the vaccination at 12 months

No. 6 months is really little to suffer with chickenpox. The younger brother is pretty much certain to come out with it and the incubation is up to 2 weeks, people who have it are contagious a couple of days before the spots appear.

No I would just reschedule it for a later date.

Jollyjoy · 15/03/2025 21:15

Yes the younger one will certainly be incubating it. Definitely reschedule.

No way!

MumChp · 15/03/2025 21:16

I wouldn't go.

Ok this makes me feel better thank you! I was worried I was being an overprotective first time mum but I really don’t want him to end up with chicken pox!
