Daughter swollen lymph node

Hi,
worrier here! I suffer with health anxiety and my daughter who is 5 suffers a lot with tonsillitis and in December after a bad bout of it she had a large swollen gland but it still is big now 4 months later, the dr said it feels like a reactive gland but he will refer her for bloods and ultra sound.
bloods are on Monday which I am terrified about I know I’m just going to be beside myself until I get the results which the dr said he will call me Wednesday, we haven’t had the scan through yet it’s been four weeks as he put it through as routine not urgent. I did say shall I get a private one and he said don’t waste your money.
has anyone else experienced this and had a positive result? I’m so scared. She’s well in herself she’s actually had no issues since we saw a homeopath at Xmas. No night sweats no appetite or weight loss.
any tips on the blood test?
thanks

My DC had this (the lymph node has still not gone back down 1 year later so probably never will). I saw 2 consultants who said it was normal and nothing to worry about, bloods were fine, didn’t have an ultrasound. They said if it was something serious DC would become unwell quickly and would be showing symptoms.

I did go private because the NHS waiting list was around 10 months where I live. I was also extremely anxious.

Thank you for your reply it really helps when I hear people have gone through the same, they said to expect the scan in April so I’m just seeing how the bloods are but to be honest I can see myself just booking one to get it all over with this week as I’m so drained, she is quite skinny so you can see it a lot and looking at it all the time just makes me anxious. I’m so happy your little one was all good. Hopefully bloods will be ok tomorrow how was your little one with the blood test?

I think medics feel pressure to request scans / blood tests "for reassurance", which can end up being a non-reassuring approach with parents just in limbo with their concerns not actually addressed in the meantime.

Various guidelines are moving towards avoiding scans/bloods altogether if children with noticeable LN are well (and the ones who do need them should have them within 24h, and are unwell/worsening).

From what they said it’s quite common and if the bloods are ok it’s very likely to be nothing serious. Hopefully the bloods will be back quickly.

He was fine, he was 1 at the time so they took blood using a toe prick as it was hard to find veins.

I hope everything’s fine for your daughter, I’m sure it will be, fingers crossed for you!

My 9mo has had raised LN since before Xmas. After two blood tests (the mucked up the sample the first time) and a referral to paediatrics they have said DC is fine. He has quite severe eczema so they are likely caused by that. An ultrasound wasn’t offered. His are quite noticeable too so I understand your worry every time you see them.

My DD Has had this for over one year.
She had a scan where I was told it was nothing bad.
It is still there now so I don’t think it’ll ever go.
From reading on here it seems a lot more common than you’d think!
Hope the scan goes well x
