Hi all,

I would love to know what you have done if you have been prescribed antibiotics for a young baby (3 months). I have been told these antibiotics are stronger and have to be given 4 times a day (6 hours apart).

Now this wouldn't seem as much of an issue if it was 3 times a day, however this often I feel as though i’m interrupting my little ones sleep pattern. Today I gave a doses at 6 am, 12pm , 6 pm and now feel as though I have ruined it by having to wake him at 12 am to give him the last dose of the day. He wont stay awake this long and usually is in bed by 10pm (when in the mood).

I have seen people say on here dont wake a sleeping baby but with it strictly having to be 6 hours apart I feel as though I am ruining his sleep cycle and baby is tricky to settle already at bedtime. What would you do please!

thank you!

I'd give and have when mine was younger, 6am or as soon as awake, 11am, 4pm then bedtime as late as possible. The middle doses are only 5 hours apart but better to get consistent doses in than miss out on the last dose. Definitely wouldn't be waking a sick, sleeping toddler.

With these 4x a day AB I squoosh the timing a bit to every four or five hours so 6am, 11am, 4pm, 9pm might work for you.

For school aged DD we did 7am, midday, 4pm, 8pm

I would suggest that anytime that works for your child is ok 4-6 hrs is fine.
