Appendicitis?

DC(7) is complaining of pain around the belly button, vomiting clear fluids and will not drink, eat or move much today but has no fever. DC is currently sleeping and has been for the majority of the morning. All week, although pretty active, DC has been saying they feel sick.

DC often complains of feeling sick or tummy pain and this is often emotional or to avoid some sort of responsibility. Unfortunately it means on this occasion we didn't really take much notice until today.

We've done the tip toe test (without explaining what we're testing) and DC was moaning about their tummy when moving and coming down on the heels but not as if they're in excruciating pain, more like an "ow that really hurts!".

There's no denying they're ill but has anyone had experience of appendicitis, would the pain be excruciating?

I don't want a diagnosis, I just don't want to take a child vomiting to A&E when it could potentially just be a virus we can look after at home.

appendicitis can present with a very wide range of symptoms/degrees of illness (and you can't exclude it as a diagnosis with any of the home acrobatics that people suggest on here). If it is an appendix he's far better off being seen and getting it sorted before it becomes a horrible gammy mess inside. Only way you're going to find out if it's appendix/something else is to see a real life HCP.

I get you, you don't want to waste doctors time. Appendicitis is a situation that just can't be helped. I had my appendix removed just before it burst when I was 15, and worked a few years later with a woman who developed sepsis after her's burst. Symptom's vary widely and if you need to "waste doctors time" it can't be helped.

I had no fever or anything.
