Threadworms

Hey!

Hoping I can have some reassurances or other peoples experiences to ease my OCD/anxious mind!

Around a week ago my youngest woke up twice in night saying itchy bum. Checked and couldn't see nothing.. then Tuesday get an email saying her class has a confirmed case of threadworms. So I get the Ovex and dose the whole house. That night I check her bum when she's asleep to confirm and there's one lonely one wiggling away..

Today is now day 5.. I have changed her bedding daily, wiped her bum every morning and changed her knickers (rather than bathing her). Showered all 3 kids separately, used different towels/flannels the lot.. I can't check her poop because they're phantom poops and disappear down the toilet before I can even have a look.. I've not checked her bum in the night to see if there's any wiggling.. so I might try check tonight once she's asleep.. but as it's day 5.. if there are some still alive is it possible I'll see them wiggling? Or would it be likely they're all dead and just need to be pooped out by now?

I'm the sort of mum that I'll stress about something until I can physically prove to myself that the problem is gone, hence why I try to check her poop and this has been proven difficult 🙈 (I'm struggling as some people have said on this forum that a week in and they still had live ones in the poop but I can't see her poop 🙈) so I want to know if there's cases with maybe a less serious infestation had something similar?

We had a similar situation here a few months ago 🙈

I probably took it too far - disinfected everything in sight, hot washed all towels and sheets. Sleep with knickers on and new pjs every night. Plus treated the whole family. I never actually saw any worms - in poop or wiggling at night. I assume she had them as they were in the class and she had a fair bit of itching at night. I dosed again at the two week mark and we've had no problems since. I was reassured when the itching seemed to stop.
