Baby whimpering in sleep

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, we've already been checked out previously and oxygen levels etc are fine but this continues to happen. It doesn't happen all the time, probably a handful of times since birth but now and again my 6 month old while asleep pulls a face as if he's upset (bottom lip out), then starts to whimper. He then starts to breathe as if you've been crying for a long time and that gaspy breathing that comes with it. He's really hard to wake up when he's like this almost like he's in a very very deep sleep, he'll respond to bright lights and movement just doesn't seem to wake.

Mine both did that. It seems so sad! I assumed they were dreaming.

He's dreaming. It's a bit like night terrors but this is usually with older children.

Don't wake him up. Just talk to him, pat him, soothe him.
