Absent seizures?

My niece is 17 so still a child I would say. My sisters informed me today for past 7 months or so my niece has had four episodes of her vacant staring for a couple seconds to passing out. She wakes up and starts vomiting then fine.

she’s had tests bloods, eye examine and eeg so far. The day she had her eeg a letter was sent out for an mri. The consultant has mentioned absent seizure epilepsy to her.

does anyone have any knowledge of this? Also onset at 17? A friend of mine said first have they checked for tumor so now I’ve gone down that route and panicking myself. Last one was month an half ago she says and nothing sets it off. She just kind of blankly stares then collapses and wakes up vomiting and then fine.

her mri isn’t until the end of the month.

thanks
