DD has come home from school today complaining that the bottom hurts at the front. She is very itchy and her skin looks very angry. I have called the GP but can't see them till tomorrow. The only thing I can think of is maybe an infection. She was covered head to toe in mud yesterday at football and maybe her wet baselayer and nickers have caused some infection or irritation. I have put on some sudocrem to try help but it haasnt yet! Any suggestions to get us through till morning x

Awww poor thing. Without the GP all
You can really do is barrier cream and maybe an ice pack? Hope you can get an appointment easily in the morning 🤞🏻

If it is an allergy or a reaction could you give her some Piriton medicine?
We use cold compresses here (dd has very sensitive skin and it can make her very itchy and sore of we use any different bath stuff etc) made with water kept in tje fridge on thick kitchen roll. Not only does it help the itchiness it also helps her to know its being helped. Does that make sense?

Thrush? Especially if she was in damp clothing for a long time yesterday

Try some canesten. It might soothe anyway.

Piriton to help relieve the itching.

You could try sitting her in a not too hot bath with bicarb in it.

As she has been wet it may be chapped skin, in which case sudocrem should be soothing.

The other possibility is she has threadworms and they are causing irritation. How old is she? I'd suggest treating for them anyway (Ovex).

Thank you, the ice packs have been helping! She is a little better today, the doctor took a swab sample and gave her a steroid cream. They also made a phone appointment for Friday to see how she is getting on, but hopefully she will be much better by then! We have stopped her having baths and just shower for the moment to avoid making things worse x
