Hand foot and mouth

Hi I have a question for anyone that may have dealt with previously.

my son caught hand foot and mouth and his skin is starting to recover. My question or concern is that do feet swell with hand foot and mouth?, his feet are red all over and swollen, gently press and the mark disappears within nano seconds. I’ve already been to the drs who have plainly said it’s hand foot and mouth but I don’t know if swelling feet are normal

Did he have a particularly bad case? It could be the white blood cells, in order to fight the HFM, have caused inflammation (which should slowly go down...). Another possibility would be if it was itchy and got scratched (no judgement), there is a chance of a bacterial infection.
You want to keep an eye on it if it doesn't get better, or gets hot, or if it starts spreading in lines up the foot/leg - does it look like this either of these? https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/cellulitis/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lymphangitis

Also if your son starts having any sepsis symptoms, especially if the redness changes (eg gets hot, spreads). You know your child best!
