At wits end with nappy rash

My one year old has awful nappy rash at the moment
I think it's due to a bad run of colds and teething
We were just about keeping it under control with yellow metanium but our last tube has run out.

We have tried
Sudocreme
Weleda
Bepantham
Two different prescription creams

We are doing regular no nappy time. Using only water to wipe her with.
Bath once a day with no soap and gently patting her dry.
Have tried various different nappy brands to see if there's one she gets on better with but it doesn't seem to make any difference

She has big raw areas and the whole nappy area is red and sore

Any idea what else I can be doing? Is there something specific I could ask the GP for?

I’d probably talk to your GP. Our 2 year old had what looked like awful nappy rash, but she was potty trained so we knew it wasn’t. It was eczema. Looked exactly like nappy rash though. A cream from the drs cleared it super quick!

I think the GP can prescribe an artificial skin barrier - Cavilon? And if infected, Fucidin antibiotic cream. Good luck, it's rotten when they're sore and you're doing everything right. I got so fed up of people saying "have you tried Metanium" - F off, this is the first thing we tried!

Another option is to apply eg Sudocrem, let us soak in, then coat generously with Vaseline to create a barrier later.

We've just had to get cream off doc for bad nappy rash.
We've also been using weleda and her bum is back to normal now.

I would see doc at this point

Have you tried Canesten? It can be fungal, even better, Canesten with 1% Hydrocortisone cream.

I love the yellow metanium but we struggle to get hold of it. The only other nappy rash cream I've found that is anywhere near as good is call sudosalve. It's sold in boots. I'm a nurse and it's very similar in consistency to barrier creams we use on patients with vulnerable skin.

Failing that I'd go to the gp.

You can buy the yellow metanium here, for now… but yes I would see the doc in your case as it might be fungal
