Tonsillitis needing antibiotics or not?

In west coast Scotland so it’s batten down the hatches here with the storm.
my DD woke up very early complaining of “sore legs”. She felt hot and has a temp of 39. She is ok lying watching tv but won’t eat and is saying her head and tummy also hurt and that her throat is too. So basically everything. I’ve had a look in her throat and can see a lot of white pus on one of her tonsils- does this mean
she’ll need antibiotics?
if so is there a need to get them today? No idea how we’d get to a clinic as it’s trees down everywhere here but obviously don’t want to delay getting her treatment if it’s needed. I just wasn’t sure if pus on tonsils mean it’s bacterial rather than viral. Thank you.

Does your surgery have an eConsult system where you submit a form for an appointment? If yes, you can upload photos onto it. It might be that the Dr can make a judgment by talking to you and looking at photos of her throat as to whether/how quickly it needs treating. Storm looks set to calm down mid afternoon so you might be ok to get to your nearest pharmacy at that point.

Having had a bad experience with a sore throat that was Strep I'm more cautious about sore throats nowadays and if it's looking infected I'd want to start treating it if docs are in agreement that it is an infection.

Thank you so much. My friend has also had very bad strep experiences with her little one so it’s made me a bit cautious.
