Rash and red behind ear -pox? Mastoiditis ?

Hi

My 2 year old has been snotty and had a cough for the last few days, no temp. This evening she had this rash appear before my eyes and tonight has woken screaming clutching her ear and there is red behind her ear. She's pretty much inconsolable, calpol hasn't helped. Anyone experienced this?

GP first thing. I’ve had mastoiditis as an adult, very painful and I had intravenous antibiotics. I didn’t get any spots so not sure what that could be sorry.

I'd go to your nearest urgent care now unless I could guarantee that a doctor would see her very first thing.

As a dr I'd want to see her asap for that. Mastoiditis is really nasty! Pack a bag with pjs for her, you and phone chargers etc as if she has it she will be admitted for IV antibiotics

Leave the bag in the car though so it's not in the way in A&E! Also pack snacks you know she likes as hospital food is crap and vending machines are expensive, if you have her fave snacks and she refuses to eat them you know she's unwell and can tell staff that. It's all helpful context x

Thank you all for your comments. We saw a doctor and they said she has an ear infection caused by a virus. The rash has gone down now and so has the ear redness. Thank you for your replies
