Just that really; looking for anyone else navigating this quagmire. Our ten year old daughter has just been fitted with a Rigo-Chenau brace which she has to wear full-time (23 hours a day) for the foreseeable future. Two curves, primary curve is 27° and she hasn’t had a major growth spurt yet, though she is showing signs of puberty and is probably about to take off. Definite genetic link as my sister has scoliosis - though didn’t wear a brace as considered not severe enough - and when my DD first showed signs of it at 18 months we’ve been tracking it yearly with X-rays. Specialist said finally time to take action now to avoid surgery in her teens.
Reality is biting and there have been lots of tears this week. She’s realising she can’t dance properly in the school musical, she can’t tie her shoelaces, can’t even wipe her bum when she goes to the toilet ☹️ For a highly independent child this is a Big Thing. Anyone any experience, tips or tricks to offer please? TIA.
