is it silent reflux?

first time mam here and so anxious desperate for advice. We’ve got a 4 week newborn and he’s an absolute dream, rarely fussy only when hungry/tired. He has no feeding issues, absolutely loves his bottle and is seemingly settled after feeding. We do all the normal things like burping, keeping upright after feeding, paced feeding. The past couple of weeks he seems to be uncomfortable in his sleep sometimes. Theres times where he is completely still and settled when on his back and in his bassinet. But sometimes during his naps and from 4am-7am he’s so noisy! He grunts and strains till he’s red in the face. His legs come up to his chest and his hands come up to his face. He doesn’t cry when he’s doing this he’s just noisy. I can’t tell if he’s in pain or if he’s just active sleeping. My worry is silent reflux, I can’t tell if he’s uncomfortable. His grunting/straining can happen even a few hours since he’s last eaten. Has anyone got any experience with silent reflux and is this what it sounds like? Can’t tell if i’m reading too much into it but don’t want to leave him uncomfortable.

I would say it isn't, given he's comfortable the rest of the time. I think many babies are uncomfortable from 4am onwards - I used to have to do a lot of vigorous bicycle legs and ankles by ears to get the farts out with both of mine. They do eventually grow out of it and get less noisy.

thank you! i'm hoping things calm down i wake up with every little movement he makes. He does definitely struggle with his wind sometimes

They are like baby warthogs at this age, soooo loud!

Yeah my baby is the exact same at around this time! She's 2 weeks old. It's just their digestive system is so immature and gas seems to build up at night. I find keeping her upright for 15 mins after a feed helps.
