Is this chicken pox or something else?

Hi all,

My 15 month old say started to get a few red spots on his tummy/ back on Sunday night. On Monday, he had a few more etc. We thought it was probably the start of chicken pox but they were just being a bit slow developing. Anyway, it was accompanied with a super high temp of 39-40 which was barely coming down with Calpol.

I phoned the GP and when she saw him that afternoon she was 99% sure it was chicken pox. She was worried about the temp so we were sent up to the hospital.

At the hospital they were worried as his breathing rate/ heart rate was high so we stayed for about 5/6 hours until they both came down (along with his temp). I saw two different doctors who both said it looks like chicken pox and it was just making him poorly. Fine - at least we know.

However, it's now Wednesday and his spots haven't progressed. His tummy/ back are covered but he doesn't have many elsewhere. But they STILL haven't blistered. They're still just lots of red/ pink spots.

Do you think it is chicken pox? It just doesn't seem to be presenting the same way. It's been a pain organising childcare as he can't go to nursery and we both work full time and until they blister/ scab he has to be off but they haven't even started blistering.

Just need some advice. Thanks!

Also feel like I should add that he had his MMR jabs 10 days before the rash started on Sunday. However, the drs don't think it's related as it's not the usual rash that can come after.

Do you have any pictures? Hard to say without seeing.

Have any of them blistered since yesterday?
