My 6 week old baby has woken up very hoarse, coughing and sneezing. And has been sleepier than usual too. She's slightly hot to touch.

She's too young for calpol but I'm petrified she'll get a temperature and become very unwell.

Can the gp give the go ahead for calpol is it worth a trip? Or am I being an overprotective mum 😢😢

You say they are hot to touch, have you tried checking her temperature?

It’s worrying when your child is unwell and you’d do anything to make them feel better. Best thing to do is keep an eye on your baby, keep offering feeds, keep count of their wet nappies and check their temperature. If your baby has a high temp then phone your gp or 111 if you’re in the UK.

I think if they're under three months old you are meant to seek medical advice if they have a temperature over 38. Can you take her temperature? If not, I'd call the GP or 111. It's probably nothing to worry about but I think when they are so young it's more difficult to tell how ill they are, so that's why there's the recommendation to get medical advice.
