Hi, my almost 5 month old has always been a happy baby, very rarely cried at all, never had any issues and did sleep through the night for a little while.
At 4 months he struggled to get to sleep, waking up more etc and put it down to the sleep regression. Tried to implement a routine with naps and bed time from this point and was working for a couple of weeks.
However about a week ago everything changed, he suddenly started screaming alot, crying and just very unsettled for most of the day, wouldn't let me put him down at all. I put it down to teething but even Calpol wasn't working.
I found that if I sat him up on my lap he was letting out loads of gas and 2 poos in one day so thought this was the issue (he usually only poos every 3 days). I spoke to the health visitor who said gas wouldn't be the issue as this is usually gone by 3 months. I ended up taking him to hospital last night as his cries were definitely painful. They said it was a viral infection. He's no better today, and again has done a poo/gas while sitting on my lap. He's showing signs of teething although I can't see any sign of teeth.
Has anyone had anything similar? Just have 3 possible issues and unsure what to do with baby 😔

Could be teething! My ds pooed more frequently and they looked a bit mucusy when teething. To be honest calpol didn’t touch the sides when he had teeth breaking through, we needed a couple of doses of nerofen which seemed to help the inflammation and work. However this was literally two doses over two days and that was enough.
hopefully it will pass soon, there’s lots of bugs going round if it isn’t teething, and just offer lots of cuddles /baby wear if you can.

Thanks I think possibly a cold and teething at the same time, he's been much better through the night so hopefully it will pass soon
