Our three year old is back in A&E with her dad, on antibiotics for tonsillitis for the last three days, but hasnt weed for 12 hours plus now. Has had 40 degree temperatures although hasn't had fever since last night and they have always come down with nurofen or calpol. Terrified of sepsis. Im at home with small baby waiting for news. She is awake and chatting but so pale.

Handhold here from me.

I hope they see her soon, it is very worrying. Thinking of you

tiptoesfirst · 18/12/2024 01:16

That sounds really positive actually.

The fact that the fever always comes down with calpol and has be better since last night. That's really great!

They will probably give her a lovely ice lolly to get her hydrated again.

I totally get how stressful it is and feel for you so much, but I think that really sounds very positive and like all will be well. I think she will be home soon and maybe you want to get the ice lollies in the freezer asap if you have one of those lolly making things. Apple juice makes nice ice lollies.

I’m sorry OP - it is terrifying when they are unwell.

These fellas are the absolute business when you have tonsilitis I had it oodles of times as a kid.

I was much better once I started having fortified breakfast cereal - first coco pops and then I found that ready brek is better. The vitamins stopped it kicking off in the first place.

I stopped getting tonsilitis entirely when I stopped eating wheat to help with my son's adenoids, which were also fiddly.

Take care there and look after yourself. I hope you get cheery news soon. [flower]

I'd better go to sleep now. Good luck!

She is in the very best place and they will look after her.

Thank you, I really hope so. They are giving her squash to try and get her to wee but will be a battle. She has been resisting the roolet and potty all day but as recently potty trained we put it down to her usual stubborness and assumed she would pee in night nappy as usual. We have apple juice so will get some in the freezer.

she had bronchiolitis two weeks ago with breathing trouble so this month has just been awful.

You've been through the mill

So tough when little ones are ill

Holding hand

coxesorangepippin · 18/12/2024 01:24

Not sure what your feeding situation was, but maybe try her back on the bottle, if you used them

Can be very comforting

Ph3 · 18/12/2024 01:25

Oh gosh - a lot going on and a small baby - you must be exhausted. Hopefully you will hear something soon.

Inmyhands · 18/12/2024 01:40

She has peed in the potty, they are taking a sample now to test. Phew. Thanks for the kind messages x

That's great news, hope she recovers quickly from this.

tiptoesfirst · 18/12/2024 05:35

How are you getting on now?

Inmyhands · 18/12/2024 15:38

she is back home, no UTI or anything. Just needs to drink a lot more! Was a relief having her seen as she seemed so poorly and shivery/frail/weak with a low temperature at home. After she peed she was suddenly perky again and doing laps of the waiting room at 4am apparently... 😂

Watermelon, jelly and ice pops are really good ways of getting water into sick kids without “drinking”. Might be worth trying a few while she is still not very well xx

SuperGinger · 18/12/2024 18:06

So glad, she is okay. Just take it easy, I was going to say the same as ChocHotolate.

tiptoesfirst · 19/12/2024 15:40

That's great that she is getting better. Fantastic news.
