Viral induced wheeze?

Hey guys, my 2 year old DS has been in hospital 3 times in the last few months with viral induced wheeze after catching a cold. His breathing gets laboured and fast and he’s been given a blue inhaler which we can give him 4 times a day. He uses the blue inhaler almost on a daily basis as he needs it mostly every morning. He stayed in hospital for 14 hours yesterday, with a throat infection and he was wheezy again. They gave him a steroid medicine, and also 10 puffs of the blue inhaler every 4 hours, 3 times, and after that he was going without it for longer so they discharged him. He got back home at 5am and they prescribed the brown inhaler too which we’ve been told to give him every morning and evening. The last time he was admitted for 24 hours, they gave him a nebuliser too as it was worse that time. However he still sounds wheezy and he’s coughing non stop. I’ve given him his blue inhaler 3 times already today. The last time was an hour ago, I gave him 6 puffs and he’s still coughing so much. Any advice guys? What else can I do to help with his cough? Poor guy is coughing non stop.

Does he have a viral induced wheeze plan? It should tell you what to do in this situation.

If it doesn't have a plan, I would call 111 as he probably needs to be reviewed again (or take him to A&E if he is showing increased work of breathing).

He needs a chest xray. Speaking of experience- then a longer and stronger course of antibiotics to finally clear it so it doesn’t keep recurring.
