Coldsore newborn baby

I am extremely stressed and worried! My dad picked my baby up this morning and hadn’t washed his hands, he was cuddling her on his shoulder and I didn’t realise he had a cold sore! I am now beside myself with worry, I’m an anxious person anyway but I’m so so so scared she’s going to catch it she’s only 3 weeks old. Does anyone have any advice or experience on similar situations or newborns catching hsv? Thank you

I'm sure she'll be fine, lots of parents have to care for their babies when they have cold sores. It's done now, nothing you can do so worrying is a waste of time. Congratulations by the way 😊

Try not to worry. Do you get cold sores? It’s probable your father had them when you were a baby too as they are something people have a tendency to get from a young age.
If they’ve not affected you, and he’d probably have been in much more frequent and closer physical contact with you as a baby, then the odds are your baby will be unaffected from this brief encounter.
Congratulations on the birth of your baby.

Obviously any change in temperature or if she isn't feeding etc then seek help.

You could always ring 111 now for advice or you midwife/ health visitor x
