Cold sore and whitlow finger?!

My daughter had this on her finger on Thursday, I thought she had injured it somehow but after this coming up on her lip this morning and a bit of a google could it be a Coldsore and whitmans finger?! 😱😱 we have never had them before and did not even know whitmans finger existed 😫😫 we thought she had injured her finger somehow but she could not recall hurting it anywhere

I think those need to be seen by a GP as I wonder if it could be herpetic whitlow.

I sent the GP photos of her finger this morning but did not think to mention her lip as we hadn't linked the two at the time and they told us to go to minor injuries 😳

If it is herpetic whitlow then I think it needs antivirals but there Is a time limit for those to be effective.

I hope she feels better soon.

It healed on its own within about 2-3 weeks it felt like forever but someone else pointed out to me that it could have also been impetigo so now I'm not sure

I had a whitlow on my toe early December, couldn't get docs appointment as couldn't get through, it was so painful even slippers hurt. I ended up at walk in clinic who drained the lump and gave me antibiotics.

If I'd realised it was a whitlow sooner I'd have got treatment earlier and anti virals.

It would have been less painful too. 😕
