7year old glandular fever

Hello all

My 7 year old has been quite poorly for a few months, school has raised concerns about how unwell she looks and how exhausted she is all the time.

Since September she has had:
Tonsillitis x 2
Strep x 2
Chest infection at the same time as strep
Ear infection diagnosed yesterday.

The gp sent her for blood tests due to schools concerns. She had bloods done on Monday. It's come back positive for glandular fever.

Any advice?

My daughter had it and we found out with a blood test as well. Her lymph nodes in her neck were quite swollen too which prompted the blood test. She couldn't do sports for 6 weeks if I remember correctly. She is also a sufferer of reoccurring tonsillitis. Plenty of rest

I think the key is rest. Be guided by your DD. If she looks/seems tired then rest is key. If she feels up for doing something then that's ok too.

My DD (who doesn't have glandular fever) has issues with fatigue and weakness. It's possible it's come about because I didn't facilitate enough rest and recovery from an illness she had a few months ago. We've really dialled back what we try to fit in and will only increase it in steps as and when DD seems on better form.
