ADHD in girls

I'm convinced our DD 12 has ADHD. Things we've noticed:

Non stop talking, singing, humming, random noises. Makes it hard to be around her all the time.

Poor concentration - affecting school work as she forgets or doesn't listen what has been taught so then struggles with homework.
Teachers say she is always enthusiastic and keen to learn but retaining the knowledge is what she struggles with.

Always fidgeting - rubbing feet together whilst sitting on the sofa or just generally cannot keep still.

Makes careless mistakes in school work. Doesn't appear to be concentrating or trying to work things out herself at home.

Can't follow more than one instruction at a time.

So disorganised, always misplacing items and clothing etc

Sensitive to certain clothes. Only likes leggings and Tshirt/hoodies. Everything else she finds the material too uncomfortable.

Does anyone think this is worth a chat with the GP or next best steps to support her.

For neurodevelopmental assessments, in most places it is initiated through school (educational psychologist) rather than GP.

Sounds like my 8 year old. She's just been referred for an autism / ADHD assessment.

Have you asked the school what she's like there? You probably need them in agreement to get anywhere with the referral.

Girls can mask very well at school though.

I was like this amongst other things. Diagnosed at 34.

How is she doing in school? CAHMS in our area will only accept referals for children in crisis. School don’t have budget to for more EP hours and are dragging their heels so it becomes middle school’s problem.

We’re on the waiting list for a private assessment.
