PBB since Feb!

Hello,

DS is 17 months and has had a cough since Feb, he had been in and out hospital with breathing difficulty (had steroids/nebulisers to help breathing) and we finally told in May/June time that he PBB. Since then he’s had 2 short courses of antibiotics and 1 6 week course of antibiotics, each took the worse of the infection away but not the cough and then eventually we just go back to where we started. The last course of antibiotics finished 2 weeks ago and his cough is just getting worse. He has an inhaler but it doesn’t seem to make a difference.

We are back at the consultant this week and I want to explore different avenues because we are all exhausted and I’m sure this horrific constant cough cannot be good for him.

Chest X-ray came up clear in Sept and paediatrician said his chest sounded clear on Tuesday.

Anyone else had similar experience and it turned out to be something else?

TIA

Has whooping cough been considered?

Hello,

Thanks for responding, I don’t think so because of the length of time he has had it.

We’ve had him looked at again today as his cough was horrendous through the night and he has an infection in his left lung and on antibiotics again!
